GIVE more natural foods like vegetables and fruits in infants . Because babies who eat more vegetables and fruits , as well as less packaging or instant food allergy risk in the future is reduced . Thus the conclusion of a recent study of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm , Sweden .
" We have realized that a specific diet appears to reduce the risk of allergy in infants , " said the professor of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm , Sweden , Dr Magnus Wickman , as reported by Reuters page on.
According to Dr. Magnus , the mechanism behind this theory is the fact that different types of fatty acids , antioxidants , vitamins , and minerals essential for maintaining good health . In addition , these nutrients can also prevent allergies .
The researchers had previously revealed that more than 8 percent of children have food allergies , so parents are often advised to avoid certain foods to prevent food allergies early on. But Kate Grimshaw , lead author of the study and researcher at the University of Southampton , UK , said that the habit of actually reducing the diversity of their infant nutrition .
To see how real parents usually feed their babies and whether these practices have an impact on food allergies , she and her colleagues collected food diaries of 1,140 babies . Generally , parents are usually routinely jot down notes of baby food , especially in its first year . During that time , 41 children are diagnosed with food allergies and she compared them with 82 infants without allergies .
The researchers then recorded the combination of foods that every baby is eating according to the records . They later found out that the baby without food allergies more often consume healthy food , natural , and homemade , such as fruits , vegetables , processed meat chicken and fish .
" The results showed that infants consume more fruits and vegetables , as well as less instant baby foods less risk of developing food allergies as it grows , " said Kate .
In addition , Dr. Magnus also added that there is no evidence that avoiding foods that commonly trigger allergies such as nuts , fish , and eggs can prevent food allergies . Results of this study have been published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology .
